Commute

Some rush to secure a seat on an overcrowded metro, while others lie in the back of a pickup truck. Millions traverse the same path daily, Monday through Friday, and sometimes even on Sunday. The average commute time in the EU is 25 minutes (Eurostat, 2019), but this does not reflect most countries. In places, where clear roads, minimal traffic, and efficient trains are distant concepts, the commute can span hours.

Once seen as a means to a destination, journeys now seem like cyclical movements within a life stage for most. By capturing this from window seats in Japan, the photo series aims to reveal societal norms and the relationship between space and time.
