Story
Bruno Aguilar (b. 1998) is a Mexican-Dutch photographer and art director working between la Ciudad de México and Rotterdam. Growing up across Latin America- México, Ecuador, and Perú- as well as the United States, shaped his visual literacy and deepened his understanding of the plethora of cultural cosmologies that coexist across the continent. For him, visual storytelling became not only an epistemological tool to understand his origins and the cultural dynamics of the region but also a visual megaphone to amplify representation. Combining a rigorous documentary approach with personal artistic interpretation, his work seeks to reframe contemporary visual realities and memory—particularly in Latin America.
Born into a family of creative advertisers, Bruno was raised under the asymmetric coexistent schools of Latin American Magical Realism and Neoliberal Capitalism. This dual influence led him to pursue a humanistic education in museum studies, which opened doors to an early career as an art director and producer for museums, architectural firms, and art studios. With a camera always in hand, the balanced relationship between cultural heritage, museum scholarship, and creative productions, forms the foundation of his storytelling approach and artistic methodology.
